At the Makariopolsko Village Banitsa Festival, the specialty is presented a pulled banitsa, the recipe of which is kept for years and handed over from mother to daughter. The holiday is held in the beginning of October and always starts with a banitsa dinner, in which children are mostly involved. Along with the banitsa are presented dozens of traditional Bulgarian specialties.
The celebration is held for the fifth consecutive year and gathers guests in the village from across the region. The center of the village turns into a playground for amateurs from the local community center, a folklore program is presented.
People from the village organize a exhibition of different kinds of banitsa – salty, sweet, with different stuffing and taste. Banitsa preparation demonstrations are organized.
