Regional Library “Emanuil Popdimitrov” dedicates the week before November 1 – the Day of the National Revival Leaders of the Bulgarian literature, education and culture.
During this week students from the primary and secondary schools in Kyustendil will have the opportunity to enjoy educational workshops to get to know the graphic symbols of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic alphabet and the history of writing, as well as to try different methods of writing that our ancestors have used – on sand or even on a typewriter from the recent past.
On October 31, 2020, a demonstration of the Gutenberg printing press will take place. The press is a copy of the original from the 15th century and was made by Dian Pavlov. He is also the author of the exhibition “Before and After Gutenberg”
The main goal of the project is to increase the interest and knowledge of the children from Kyustendil to the role and importance of the Bulgarian alphabets – Glagolitic and Cyrillic, for the survival of the Bulgarian spirit over the centuries, to strengthen the belief that writing is one of the most important achievements of mankind.
