The National Folklore Festival is of a competitive nature and is held annually on Saturdays and Sundays before Petkovden, when the city holiday is celebrated. The festival includes amateurs – ensembles and performers of authentic and processed folklore from Bulgaria and abroad.
The festival is a continuation of the Folkloric Review “The Zlatia sings and dances”, which collects mostly compositions from the municipality of Valchedram. The name Zlatia comes from the corny land, known as the third granary of Bulgaria. The local people appreciate and preserve their traditions and folklore and at the festival they show authentic and processed folklore. Best performers receive awards.
