Holiday “Petlyovden”, Jabokrat village

The traditional holiday “Petlyovden” has been celebrated for decades in the Kyustendil village of Jabokrat.
The men from the village gather to the Struma River, where a cock is cradled for the health of the male child and a fertility in the village. The rooster is baked and every participant in the ritual receives a piece of meat for health.
Women are not allowed to attend the holiday.
