International Festival "Great Teachers" and International Competition for Pianists "Victor Merzhanov"

The International Piano Festival “Grand Teachers” is held in August in Kyustendil. The organizers are the municipality, the “Bratstvo 1869” Chitalishte and the Alexander Skryabin Musical Society in Bulgaria with the support of the P. Vladigerov National Music Conservatory, Moscow State Conservatoire “PI Chaykovski”, Accademia Musicale Romana (Rome, Italy), the Conservatoire “Claudio Monteverdi” Bolzano, Italy, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Arts.
Within the festival there are master classes, concerts, thematic exhibitions and creative meetings. Young pianists and their pedagogues take part in the International Festival “Grand Teachers” in one of the following categories: “B” for the participants in the master classes and “C” for the pedagogues, listeners and participants in the discussions and conferences.
The concerts are held in the halls of the cultural center of Kyustendil – “Bratstvo 1869” Chitalishte and “Vazrojdensko uchilishte”. Rooms with a piano are provided for individual preparation of the participants in the master classes and the casting.
The selected best candidates are required to participate (free of charge) at the closing concert of the festival. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to broadcast and distribution of the audio and video of the event.
