Masquerade games, Zhelyu Voĭvoda village

Every year, on the second Saturday of February, a Kukeri feast begins before sunset. The Masquerade Games is a well-loved event that gathers many Kukeri withtraditional masks. The purpose of the feast is to drive evil away and welcome good, prosperity and understanding among people. The kukeri crawl around the homes and play ritual dances.
