“Medieval Tarnovgrad” International Festival takes place annually in the historical Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo. Like in a time machine the festival instantly takes the visitors into the glorious and mysterious Middle Ages. The daily life, cuisine, crafts, arts and military and hunting skills of Bulgaria, Byzantium and Europe in XII-XIV century are represented by Bulgarian and foreign groups for historical reconstructions and free reenactors.
The seventh edition of the festival will take place from 24 to 26 June 2022. The everyday life, romance and mysticism of the Middle Ages will be represented with historical reconstructions, dedicated to the diplomacy and dynastic marriages of one of the most important Bulgarian rulers, Tsar Ivan Asen II, who ruled Bulgaria between 1221-1241.
