Music Festival OPERA OPEN, Plovdiv

OPERA OPEN is an artistic platform whose idea is to be open not only to different genres and creative provocations but also to new audiences. Ancient Theater implies an even greater experience of the art created in a space of centuries old cultural strata.
The music festival is the successor of 33-year tradition to put premiere titles and projects with the participation of some of the most prominent international artists in the world. The festival builds a different world filled with emotion and spirituality, making it an important part of the national and European cultural map.
OPERA OPEN multi-platform of Plovdiv Opera will welcome leading soloists of well-known opera and ballet scenes in the Ancient Theater.
In 2019 “OPERA OPEN” will present 10 performances in the period from 14 June to 31 July. Highlights of the program are the premiere of “Orpheus and Eurydice” – spectacle of the leading opera director Stefano Poda, a large co-production with Teatro “Reggio di Parma” – Verdi Festival and ballet performance with soloists from “Bolshoi Theater”.
The festival will host world-class opera performers and conductors from Europe, the United States and Asia as well as Bulgarian singers and musicians with a well-established international career. A LIGHT program with concerts and music shows is being prepared, as well as a continuation of “BIS” with the best of the festival in August and September.
