The International Contemporary Dance Festival – ONE DANCE WEEK is the only Bulgarian forum that focuses entirely on the art of dance. This is the largest forum in Bulgaria devoted entirely to contemporary dance. The festival will present in Plovdiv the most significant performers in the field of contemporary dance practices from Europe, Asia and America.
The main purpose of the event since its first edition in 2008. is to show the Bulgarian audience emblematic performances, companies and artists, as well as to present the brightest trends of modern dance. For its over ten-year history, the festival has been the stage of world premieres and pre-premieres of the most prominent artists. Developing more and more intensively as a program and ambition, the festival will present for the first time in Bulgaria the famous Japanese choreographer Shiro Takatani and the world-famous choreographer Dimitris Papayoanou.
In 2019, ONE DANCE WEEK will mark another culmination in its program within the European Capital of Culture.
