On January 12, 2019 in the town of Razlog there will be held the 8th International Kukeri Carnival “Starchevata” 2019. Over the years the carnival has established itself as one of the largest events not only in the region. The Kouker’s Day is organized by Razlog municipality. Kuker groups from all over the country and specially invited groups from abroad are participating. The presentation is of a competitive nature.
The purpose of the Starchevata Kuker Carnival is to restore traditions specific to different regions of Bulgaria and to present kuker games as a factor for preserving and developing cultural traditions, demonstrating the diversity of folklore traditions, and last but not least advertising the city as a tourist destination.
