The festival has been held since 2005, when the German foundation EURONATURE named Belozem as the European White Stork village. The main purpose of the event is to promote the idea of the possible harmonious coexistence of people with wildlife and to attract more tourists to this picturesque area. Similar events are taking place in all the 14 stork villages across Europe, well known because of their large stork colonies.
During this year’s festival everyone will be able to enjoy the performances of many participants, to visit knitwear, souvenirs, etc. local producers’ stands in the White Stork Park; to learn how to create a farm of California worms and organic garden herbs in the school yard; to look at the diary of the children who describe the life of 20 stork families living under the roof of the local school; to see the ethnographic collection and exhibition of rural network European Stork village in the Culture Club; to have a ride on ecological vehicles; to take pictures with a White Stork family; or to dunk him/ herself in the atmosphere of the wetland Kissimov Holes.
