For the 16th time, the Municipality of Svishtov and the First Bulgarian People’s Community Center “Elenka and Kiril D. Avramovi – 1856” gather friends and lovers of the small theatrical forms for the National Festival of Amateur Chamber and Cafe Theaters on 23rd and 24th March. This year’s edition of the festival is dedicated to March 27 – International Theater Day.
The 16th edition of the festival will mark the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the First Bulgarian Choir and the Beginning of Choral Art in Bulgaria (1868, Svishtov), 145 years since the performance of the play “Virtue and Malice” by D. Shishmanov. where for the first time play female actresses and 20 years since the first festival (1998).
Participants will be judged by a jury consisting of theater professionals.
The mayor will award a special prize for best performance (first, second, third prize). Awards for best male and female roles (first, second, third prize) will also be awarded.
The festival aims to activate the social role, to popularize the small theatrical forms and to involve the young audience for their aesthetic upbringing.
The performances in the contest will last up to 60 minutes. The contest does not allow amateur theaters, if there are also professional actors. The Festival does not cover participants’ travel, stay, daytime expenses.
