The town of Topolovgrad continues to maintain its cultural tradition and for the 24th time will be held the International Festival of amateur comedy theaters, pantomime and satire “Velko Kanev”. The festival is organized with the help of the Ministry of Culture, Union of Bulgarian Artists, Topolovgrad Municipality and St. Cyril and St. Methodius 1894 Chitalishte.
It is a festival that promotes and celebrates the comedic theatrical performances of the amateur theater formations in the country and abroad.
The International Festival is held annually on the eve of May 24 – the Day of Slavic Literature and the Bulgarian Education and Culture. There will performe amateur theatrical groups from Bulgaria and Bulgarian theaters from abroad, presenting dramatic works of the comedy genre, pantomime or satire.
The International Festival of amateur comedy theaters, pantomime and satire “Velko Kanev” traditionally starts with a parade of the amateur groups participating in the festival. The parade ends with the St. Cyril and St. Methodius 1894 Chitalishte, where the flags of the participating countries, the EU flag and the flag of the festival are raised solemnly.
