FESTIVAL ACADEMY – VARNA PRESENTS ITS FIRST AWARDS FOR 2022 AT FIVE FESTIVALS

Throughout the year, festivals in Varna have been under scrutiny – the internet, social networks, critical reviews and their public funding. The survey among the members of the Festival Academy – Varna and among the users of the Internet and social networks processed more than 450 survey cards. As a result, the following festivals were awarded the first prizes of the Festival Academy – Varna:

ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTION

International Theater Festival “Varna Summer”, for the presentation of current trends in national and world theater art in a wide range of genres.

The award was presented by Valentina Dobrincheva from BTA – Varna to Antonia Yovcheva, director of the Directorate of “Culture and Spiritual Development” in the Municipality of Varna.

DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT

Sofia Film Fest – Varna, for the active use of the Internet and social networks in promoting the festival.

The award was presented by Elitsa Videnova, head of public relations at the University of Economics – Varna. The organizer of the festival, Alexander Nikolov from Artin Vision Films, thanked the Academy and his team for the high evaluation.

International Ballet Competition – Varna was awarded an extraordinary award by the initiator of the Festival Academy – Varna, Lubomir Kutin. Despite not being held for four years, the event enjoys the highest number of followers on social networks, which is difficult to reach as a benchmark.

Lubomir Kutin expressed the desire that Bulgarian festivals with high prestige and contribution to national culture and international dialogue receive guaranteed funding in the long term in order to fulfill their noble and highly responsible mission.

CARE FOR THE PUBLIC

“Asparuhovo sings and dances”, for the transformation of Asparuhov park as a territory for creativity and encounter with culture and art.

The award was presented by Natalia Cheshmedjieva, director of Radio Varna, to the mayor of Asparuhovo District Ivaylo Marinov, Nikolay Binev, chairman, and Lyubka Todorova, secretary of the Prosveta – 1927 People’s Community Center.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

International Puppetry Festival “The Golden Dolphin”, for the active commitment of the festival to the arts for children.

The award was received by Christiana Dimcheva, chief librarian of the “Pencho Slaveykov” Regional Library – Varna, Veselina Kalcheva and Krasimir Dobrev, actors from the Puppet Theater – Varna. They were joined by the host of the ceremony, Evgenia Vasileva, an actress in the same theater.
